Setting up your nesting boxes correctly makes all the difference! Here’s how: Size Matters - Each box should be at least 12x12 inches to give your hens a cozy, private space to lay. Too small? They’ll avoid it. Too big? Multiple hens might pile in, leading to broken eggs. 2. Keep It Private & Dark - Hens prefer quiet, low-light areas for laying. Position nesting boxes in a calm part of the coop, away from heavy foot traffic and bright light. 3. Use Soft Bedding - Straw, pine shavings, or nesting

A good nesting box ratio is one box for every four chickens. Nesting boxes are not intended to be used for sleeping, only for laying. Boxes should be roomy enough to hold a laying hen, and small enough to feel secure. About a cubic foot is ideal, with a lipped edge to keep in their bedding. Try to place boxes in the least traveled part of the coop to prevent disturbances while hens are laying. Elevate the nest to a height of 1 to 3 feet to discourage predators and keep them clean from the coop f
