At least 26 people died and 17 others were injured when suspected militants opened fire at a popular tourist spot in the Pahalgam region of India's Jammu and Kashmir territory this week.

India's army chief will review security arrangements on Friday and visit the site of a deadly attack on tourists in Indian Kashmir earlier this week, an incident that has led to a fresh crisis with long-time rival and neighbour Pakistan.

During an all-party meeting, leaders across party lines called for decisive action against terrorism and terror camps, even as some opposition parties flagged security lapses in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
