Tatum suffered what appeared to be a serious lower leg injury late in the fourth quarter. He writhed in pain on the court, had to be carried off by Celtics staffers and was seen on ESPN’s broadcast riding in a wheelchair after exiting down the tunnel.
Tatum had a non-contact leg injury and had to be helped off the court, it looked serious and changes everything for Boston.
The New York Knicks are in an interesting situation in their championship chase. The Detroit Pistons gave them a decent challenge, but Tom Thibodeau’s squad was too good for the Pistons to upset them in any meaningful way.
ESPN on ABC was on the broadcast for the must-win game for Boston, and Mike Breen and Doris Burke were on the call. Former NBA star Richard Jefferson was also on the commentary team at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The team may have newly-elected Pope Leo XIV on its side, thanks to their shared Villanova roots, but the Celtics still blew them out of the Garden, 115-93, this weekend. The Knicks’ late-game heroics from Games 1 and 2 didn’t manifest, as the Celtics managed to make their early 20-point lead stick.
