There are reportedly some shortstops to be had ahead of Monday's MLB trade deadline if teams make the right offer.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Corey Seager took live batting practice Sunday for the first time since the Texas Rangers shortstop was sidelined by a back injury for the second time this season on July 1. Seager finished the session with a home run and was planning to take live BP again Monday before what would appear to be a minor league rehab assignment.

Seager completed another round of live batting practice and simulated defensive drills before Sunday's game vs. the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field.

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is slated for a rehab assignment with the Frisco RoughRiders starting at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, when the RoughRiders host the Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros affiliate) at Riders Field.

The best we can do at this point is offer more won’ts than wills. Seager hasn’t started to swing a bat since coming out of the lineup eight days ago in Cleveland. He won’t be ready to be activated from the IL when he’s eligible Saturday. It makes it unlikely that he’ll be ready when the Rangers return from the All-Star break July 17.

Corey Seager (back) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco on Tuesday. Reinforcements are on the way. Seager is likely to make it back to Texas’ lineup rather quickly after missing the last couple weeks with lower back inflammation.
