For the past four months, we’ve been on standard time. But overnight Saturday, we’ll turn our clocks ahead one hour at 2 a.m., effectively making it 3 a.m. (So don’t schedule any important meetings at 2:30 a.m., because that time won’t exist Sunday — and is not a great time for a meeting, anyway).

Daylight Saving Time (DST) takes place each year on the second Sunday of March until the first Sunday in November. While we “spring forward” in March, in November, the clocks “fall back” and we gain an extra hour of sleep overnight.

And, beginning in 1967, the act mandated Standard Time within the established time zones and provided that clocks would be moved ahead one hour beginning at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday in April and turned back one hour at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday in October.
