Much of the U.S. should be getting ready to experience a warmer- and drier-than-average fall. The Old Farmer’s Almanac forecasts that parts of at least 30 states will be warmer and drier than usual, especially in western regions.

The Almanac’s winter forecast typically releases each August and often makes headlines with bold predictions of bitter cold, snowy blasts, or mild reprieves. Last year, it called for a “wet and windy winter” with widespread snowfall and rapid-fire storms.
