Crews battled wildfires in North and South Carolina on Sunday amid dry conditions and gusty winds and evacuations were ordered in some areas. The National Weather Service warned of increased fire danger in the region due to a combination of critically dry fuels and very low relative humidity.

"Red flag warnings persist bringing gusty winds, low relative humidity, dry fuels and shifting winds. Firefighters are working to contain the fires throughout the following forests and districts," says the U.

The National Weather Service issued advisories on Sunday from Georgia to New Jersey warning of an increased risk of wildfires.
