Mavericks, NBA Draft Lottery

Much like its NHL counterpart, the NBA draft lottery ended with a completely shocking result. One week after the Islanders got the No. 1 pick in the NHL draft lottery with a 3.5 percent chance, the Mavericks did the same on Monday night with even smaller odds at 1.8 percent.
The Dallas Mavericks won the 2025 NBA draft lottery on Monday in Chicago, securing the coveted top overall pick and the right to possibly select Duke University star forward Cooper Flagg next month.
In a major surprise, Dallas received the rights to the No. 1 pick in next month’s draft and is expected to select the star Duke forward.

Cooper Flagg might be headed to Dallas to start his NBA career. And a fan base that lost Luka Doncic this season might have a new star to cheer for.
The Dallas Mavericks have struck the post-Luka Doncic lottery. They'll now have their chance to draft Doncic's potential successor -- Duke star Cooper Flagg -- as the new face of the franchise after winning the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery on Monday despite entering with just a 1.8% chance of doing so.
Having the face of the franchise ripped from the team under the cloak of night with no quality explanation other than the broken record statement of "defense wins championships" by Mavs general manager Nico Harrison is maddening.

The Dallas Mavericks have the No. 1 pick, an ending to the lottery that will provide years of fuel for the conspiracy theorists around the league.
