Countries failing to strike deals with the US within the July 9 deadline will face tariffs as was announced by Trump in April. The President however on Friday indicated that the deadline could be moved forward.

President Trump said the United States would send out letters telling other countries “what they have to pay,” even as other officials said negotiations could be extended past a July deadline.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said trade talks could yield multiple deals by Sept. 1, citing a new U.S.-China agreement on rare earth shipments.
