Qualifier Terence Atmane has been gifted a Reds jersey and a Ken Griffey Jr. T-shirt during his surprise run to the Cincinnati Open quarterfinals.

Just a day after being backed by Lindsey Davenport, Ben Shelton became the last American player to fall at the Cincinnati Open overnight. He was well beaten 6-2 6-2 by Alexander Zverev, and looked crestfallen as he approached the net afterwards.

French qualifier Terence Atmane said his Saturday Cincinnati Open semi-final against world number one Jannik Sinner will remain his brightest tennis memory despite absorbing a 7-6 (7/4), 6-2 loss to the defending champion.

In addition to Rune and Fritz, Atmane got through Joao Fonseca and Flavio Cobolli in Cincinnati. He entered the main draw through the tournament's qualifying matches, becoming the first qualifier to reach the semifinal in Cincinnati since 2015.

Atmane's fairytale run to the semi-finals might have been helped by his impressive brain power, given that he claims to have an IQ of 158. It would put him just two behind Einstein's rumoured score of 160,
