There may be a break in a more than half-century-old cold case after central Minnesota authorities discovered human remains in a car submerged in the Mississippi River on Wednesday.

Sartell police say human remains were discovered inside a sunken car located on Wednesday in the Mississippi River. The sunken car was originally spotted on Sunday when a fisherman detected it on his sonar finder and reported it to authorities.

Police have confirmed the discovery of human remains in the car found submerged in the Mississippi River near Sartell on Sunday. In an update Wednesday evening, Sartell PD said the remains found in the 1960s Buick sedan pulled from the river near Riverside Avenue is believed to be connected to the case of a man who went missing in 1967.
