NEW DELHI (AP) — India has only “paused” its military action and will “retaliate on its own terms” if there is any future terror attack on the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Monday in his first public comments since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire over the weekend.

India had a clear edge over Pakistan in a recent military standoff, with satellite imagery showing precision strikes on key Pakistani military targets, according to a detailed New York Times report.

The brief conflict between India and Pakistan last week may have left no clear victor, but Islamabad's generals are taking a win, riding a wave of approval on social media to burnish their recently tarnished image.
