LOS ANGELES (June 27, 2025) — Today with the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, the Seattle Kraken selected forward Jake O’Brien from the Brantford Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

All it takes to love O'Brien's approach to hockey is watching one game with him in it. He's a pass-first guy to the max, always looking to set up his teammates, but he does it in a crafty, deceptive way. The guy is a truly special playmaker, possibly the best in the class at this stage if we're looking at that skill set alone.

The Kraken again draft at No. 8 in the NHL draft, and they'd love to find a another prospect like Berkly Catton, taken at No. 8 last year, who might make the big club.
