It may or may not develop into a tropical depression, but the system will bring rains and the possibility of flooding. Here's the forecast for New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
A disorganized low-pressure area off Florida is showing increasing chances of becoming a tropical depression or tropical storm this week.
If the storm were to speed up, it would push the tropical rain across the central Gulf Coast. A storm which stalls over the Gulf or Louisiana could result in more widespread heavy rain and flooding.
Prepare for rain, New Orleans. A low pressure system headed for the Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds to south Louisiana later this week, though just how much of each to expect is still in question.
A storm moving over Florida brought drenching rains to the region and the continued threat of gaining strength, forecasters said Tuesday.
