The Trump administration will move the FBI headquarters from the storied Brutalist-era J. Edgar Hoover building to the Ronald Reagan Building blocks away, it said Tuesday.

The new FBI headquarters is less than a mile away from the former headquarters at the J. Edgar Hoover Building. The FBI called the Ronald Reagan complex a “world-class facility that supports the FBI’s critical mission and saves money for taxpayers.”

The decision represents a turnabout from plans announced during the Biden administration to move the FBI to a site in Greenbelt, Maryland. The suburban Washington location was selected over nearby Virginia following a sharp competition between the two states.
