New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone had some concerning news after a dramatic walk-off win over the Rangers on Wednesday night. Fernando Cruz, the dynamic reliever the Yankees added to their bullpen this winter, has been shut down since Saturday with a shoulder issue.

It wasn’t the only family reunion of the series, either. Rangers starter Jack Leiter and Yankees reliever Mark Leiter Jr. are cousins, the sons of former major leaguers Al and Mark Leiter. Before Tuesday’s game all four Leiter pitchers posed on the field for photos. Mark Leiter, Jr. pitched in relief against the Rangers on Tuesday.

Now into their 50s, the Boone brothers are still meeting at the ballpark. For the first time in two decades, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone squared off against his older sibling on a big league field Tuesday night when the Texas Rangers came to town for the opener of a three-game series.
