To reduce the risk of wildfires in certain areas of San Diego County, San Diego Gas & Electric has begun power shutoffs in high-risk areas again.

Dry and windy conditions are in the forecast Monday and through mid-week in San Diego County, with critical fire weather expected for valleys, coastal mountain slopes, and chances of light rain west of the mountains next weekend,

San Diego Gas & Electric said early Wednesday that it is rapidly turning off power to many of its customers to help minimize the chances of sparking a wildfire as strong Santa Ana winds continue to lash San Diego County.

A red flag warning was set to expire for San Diego County Wednesday as Santa Ana winds diminish, although dry conditions could still create concern for wildfires in the days to come, forecasters said.

The Red Flag Warning expired in San Diego and SDG&E has restored the power to areas shut off during the warning.
