The Predator and Alien franchises have seen a bit of a renaissance thanks to a trio of well-received projects on the big and small screen, including Prey, Alien Romulus, and Predator: Killer of Killers.

Badlands trailer is full of alien beasts, gorgeous sci-fi vistas, and a Yautja hero who finds an unlikely ally in a synthetic.

"Predator: Badlands" arrived at Hall H on Thursday to preview footage from the upcoming sci-fi film from "Prey" director Dan Trachtenberg.

Before the first 15 minutes were shown, the Badlands panel began with one of the Predator warriors coming on stage and scanning the Hall H audience with his uber-multi-color-vision (the projection of what he saw, projected on the screen). Suddenly he spots the moderator, filmmaker Kevin Smith.

Badlands," Dan Trachtenberg, said audiences will emotionally "connect" with the iconic hunter in the show out this fall.

Predator: Badlands does what no Predator film has done before: It makes a Predator the protagonist.
