Joe Gomez has returned to training ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth at Anfield today after three weeks out. The long-serving defender has recovered from the Achilles injury that forced him to leave the club’s pre-season tour of Asia last month and return home to Merseyside for treatment.

After watching a two-goal lead slip away to Bournemouth, Federico Chiesa restored order, scoring to give Liverpool the win in a 4-2 victory over Bournemouth on Friday to kick off the Premier League season.

Arne Slot's side had held a 2-0 lead in the fixture thanks to goals from Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo in either half. However, an Antoine Semenyo brace in the second half saw Liverpool in danger of dropping two points in their first match of the new season as defending champions.
