Twins manager Derek Shelton told reporters Joe Ryan will undergo further evaluation for a lower-body issue. Shelton added that Ryan is headed back to Minnesota due to back and glute issues, which puts his availability for Sunday’s start against the Brewers in obvious jeopardy.

The Twins (56-58) fell for the third straight time, and for the first time after Monday’s trade deadline, when they were buyers for the first time in years. The first-place Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians also lost their respective games, so the Twins lost no ground in the American League Central or the AL wild-card race.

The Twins may want to add another starter if Joe Ryan lands on the IL, but they should still avoid reuniting with this right-hander.
