Marlen Reusser has described the tactical duel with Demi Vollering on the slopes of Mont Ventoux as "really stupid from both of us", as the pair let Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney sail away to the stage win and the yellow jersey at the Tour de France Femmes.

Demi Vollering said Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney "is not the one who can really say something about [fair play]", after the Canyon-Sram rider accused Vollering's team-mate of blocking her on stage eight of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

Defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt pulled out of the Women’s Tour de France ahead of Saturday’s eighth and penultimate stage after feeling unwell. The French rider’s Visma-Lease a Bike team said on X that the decision to pull her out of the race was made after consultation with the team’s medical staff.
