Sunday's premiere of the HBO comedy revealed that in the six years Larry David was off the air, he had been busy writing a musical about the fatwa that was issued against Rushdie.

In mapping out the season, David & Co. were looking for a way to keep the fatwa storyline alive without having to maintain the disguise aspect every time Larry ventured out into the world.
