Iran and the United States have reached a tentative agreement to turn the existing ceasefire into a more long-lasting settlement, US officials said Thursday.
Iran dismissed Trump's suggestion of a meeting with its supreme leader, calling it unrealistic, as US-Iran tensions persist despite indirect talks and fresh military exchanges.
The United States and Iran attacked each other overnight in a further test of the already fragile ceasefire. The US military said it shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones launched towards the Strait of Hormuz, which it said “posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic”.
