WASHINGTON — After over two decades of providing web calls, Skype is shutting down on May 5. Microsoft made the announcement Friday in a press release and on the official Skype X account.

Block strangers on Skype via computers Launch Skype or visit skype.com on a browser and log in to your account. Click the search box in the left sidebar and type someone's name to find them.

Bing in Skype also has voice input and can be customized to provide responses in bullet point, text, or written in a style that relates to little kids.

Microsoft is discontinuing its calling service, Skype on May 5, 2025. Users are instead directed to use Microsoft Teams.
