Hines is survived by his fiancee, Negrita Jayde, his father Maurice Sr., his brother, his daughter, Daria, his son, Zach and his stepdaughter, Jessica. Private services will be held in Los Angeles.

Gregory Oliver Hines was born Feb. 14, 1946, in New York City. He has said his mother urged him and his older brother toward tap dancing because she wanted them to have a way out of the ghetto.
