The U.S. Men's National Team lost to Germany in their final tune-up before the World Cup, but there was a lot to be excited about.
The U.S. men's national team dropped its final World Cup warm-up friendly, falling to Germany at Soldier Field in Chicago.
The Pentagon is expected to cancel a plan to send Tomahawk missiles to Germany partly because officials are concerned Russia will view it as an escalation, a startling reversal of a long-planned agreement with one of America’s biggest allies.
The pre-World Cup friendly ended in a heat exchange and some shoves.
The core of the team is a well-known trio: Caicedo of Chelsea, Arsenal’s Hincapie and Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Willian Pacho. All three are aged 24 and graduated from Independiente del Valle’s academy. They personify the blend of technical quality and physicality which runs through the team.
Though four-time winners, Germany's last World Cup knockout match was the victorious final of 2014. Two group exits followed, painting a picture of faded glory.
Germany did have an impressive 4-0 win last weekend against Finland, but it’s 2-1 victory over the USMNT was very shaky. Heading into the World Cup, the squad suffered a key injury ( Lennart Karl) and put in a performance that might leave a lot of room for doubt.
