No Group of Five team was ranked in Tuesday's initial College Football Playoff Rankings from the selection committee; however, Memphis (8-2, 4-2) was ahead of the rest of others in the picture and would've been placed at No. 12 in the bracket.

The winner of the game between the Tigers (8-1, 4-1 American Conference) and Tulane (6-2, 3-1) on Nov. 7 (8 p.m., ESPN) at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium will be in position to win out and reach the conference title game. The loser will need a lot of help and will no longer have control of their College Football Playoff destiny.
