The United States Postal Service is shutting down nearly all operations to celebrate Thanksgiving on Nov. 27. That means all post office locations will be closed and most mail won’t be delivered. Only Priority Mail Express will be delivered Thursday, according to USPS.

Many Reno businesses, restaurants and offices are closed on Thanksgiving, which is now less than a week away. However, some will remain open.

If you plan on sending holiday cards and gifts, here's when you should ship them out by if you want them to make it before Dec. 25.

For those who want to ensure their packages or cards arrive ahead of Christmas, the USPS advises planning ahead. If you want to pay for the lower cost Ground Advantage or First-Class Mail postage options, you’ll need to ship by Dec. 17 for delivery to happen before Dec. 25.
