A Dallas County district judge on Friday rejected Attorney General Ken Paxton’s request to block Dallas temporarily from enforcing a ban on police arresting or citing people solely accused of low-level marijuana possession.

A Texas judge has ruled that a local marijuana decriminalization law approved by Dallas voters last year can continue to be implemented— denying a request from the Republican state attorney general that sought to temporarily block the reform as a lawsuit proceeds.

Dallas District Court Judge Dale Tillery denied Attorney General Ken Paxton’s attempt of a temporary injunction, which would blocked the city’s decriminalization of misdemeanor marijuana possession.
