Attorney General Pam Bondi has fired at least three career Justice Department prosecutors who worked on cases related to the Jan. 6 insurrection. The attorneys were informed in letters signed by Bondi that they were “removed from federal service effective immediately” with no further explanation, NBC News reported.

Among those dismissed were two attorneys who supervised Jan. 6 prosecutions in Washington and a line attorney who prosecuted cases originating from the riot.

The dismissals were the first time that prosecutors who worked on Jan. 6 cases and were past their probationary period of federal employment had been fired by the Justice Department.
