LONDON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — In the aftermath of the powerful tornado that tore through parts of Laurel County, stories of destruction and heartbreak are being met with just as many examples of hope, resilience, and neighborly love.
Just before 3 p.m., the Laurel County Fire Department confirmed Maj. Roger Leslie Leatherman was fatally injured while reportedly responding to an potential tornado in the area. He is the second publicly identified victim of Friday’s overnight storms.
Greenwell and his family plan to go back to London on Saturday. They are accepting donations and volunteers. The Lord's Kitchen is also giving out free meals. It needs volunteers. You can also volunteer or donate to Mercy Chefs.
Goodwill Kentucky announced that its Somerset and London locations will provide $50 vouchers to individuals who have been affected by the latest storm.
