FRISCO, Texas — Lexi Thompson nearly got blown over to start the third round of the KMPG Women's PGA Championship, with a top and a shank on the way to a triple bogey on the opening hole in windy conditions Saturday.

Lexi Thompson has experienced more than her share of heartaches in major championships through the years. She has only win in the LPGA Tour’s Big Five among her 11 career victories, while there are 10 top-four finishes—some of them with the 30-year-old coming excruciatingly close before making crucial mistakes down the stretch on Sunday.

Lexi Thompson's third round of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship started in about the worst way possible: a triple bogey featuring one topped shot, a misfire into the wilderness and more than enough wind to do damage.
