The Los Angeles Lakers and Bronny James will play in their fifth Las Vegas NBA Summer League game on Friday night against the Denver Nuggets. The former USC Trojans guard is coming off a summer league scoring high on Thursday.
If the Nuggets don’t offer the former Iowa State star Curtis Jones a 2-way contract, then some other NBA team sure as heck will.
Bronny James is in Vegas, but his performance Thursday night had a Hollywood ending. The second-year Lakers guard ended the first half against the Celtics with zero points before he flipped the script, scoring a game-high 18 points to go with five assists, three rebounds and a steal in the 87-78 loss in Summer League action.
The Dallas Mavericks were among the first to shut down a star rookie during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. First overall pick Cooper Flagg had a disappointing debut against the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring just 10 points on 5/21 shooting. He bounced back in the second game against the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 31 points on 10/20 shooting.

Marcus Smart now gets a chance to be back on the big stage, but he’ll do so with a Celtics rival. Smart plans to sign with the Lakers after getting bought out by the Wizards, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
After parting ways with Washington, Marcus Smart might already have his next team lined up, thanks to Luka Doncic.
