The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office states that, after speaking with local organizations and individuals who lived in the area near Gooding Road and 170th Road, they learned that the commonly shared story surrounding the headstone is that the girl was the daughter of settlers who stopped to bury their child and then continued west.
