KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Twins are already without their All-Star center fielder, Byron Buxton, and now they will be without All-Star starting pitcher Joe Ryan for the next two weeks. Ryan is headed to the 15-day injured list after a medical resonance imaging exam Thursday revealed a mild left glute strain.

Getting Ryan back on track will be critical for the Twins, for whom the recent investments are only the beginning.

The Twins (56-58) fell for the third straight time, and for the first time after Monday’s trade deadline, when they were buyers for the first time in years. The first-place Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians also lost their respective games, so the Twins lost no ground in the American League Central or the AL wild-card race.
