According to a statement provided to The Associated Press by Parton's publicist, Dean died in Nashville, Tennessee. Parton met Dean outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat the day she moved to Nashville at 18.

Participants in the parade include bands, dance groups, horse groups, local celebrities, fair queens, and more. This year, the parade was moved up to 9:15 a.m. due to the threat of weather.
