Aflac said Friday customer health data and Social Security numbers were hacked, but that it stopped the cyber intrusion within hours and the attack did not include ransomware.

Insurance giant Aflac identified “suspicious activity” in its U.S. network, which initiated its cybersecurity protocols. Aflac said it was able to stop the attack within hours, and its systems were not affected by ransomware.

Officials with Aflac have confirmed that hackers breached the insurance giant with social security numbers, insurance claims and health information being possibly stolen, according to company officials.
