Detained Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil has been allowed to hold his 1-month-old son for the first time after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration’s efforts to keep the father and infant separated by a plexiglass divider.
The judge in the case, Michael E. Farbiarz, has yet to weigh in fully on the issues of free speech and due process as Mr. Khalil passes the weeks in Jena, La.
Khalil’s representatives said that ICE’s refusal stood in contrast to the agency’s directives encouraging contact visits and preserving parental rights.
