A week after devastating flash floods swept through Central Texas, the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country announced that it has raised more than $30 million through the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and distributed $5 million in initial grants to support recovery efforts.

Over 12,000 volunteers have already assisted in Kerr County, according to the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

A candlelight vigil was held at Freedom Church in Liberty to honor the victims of the devastating Texas Hill Country floods, which have claimed over 100 lives and left more than 170 people missing.

The Houston Texans were the first to announce their donations on Saturday, July 5, with more coming throughout the week. The Dallas Cowboys and the NFL Foundation joined the Texans on Sunday, July 6, with each contributing $500,000 in a $1.5 million total donation.

The Community Foundation says it will announce a major milestone in the response to its Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and the first round of grant recipients.

Meals for first responders and families are being prepared. Vital supplies such as fresh water and first-aid items are being collected. And several San Antonio restaurants are donating a portion of their sales to assist.
