General Motors (NYSE:GM) is urging lawmakers to block California’s ambitious zero-emissions vehicle mandate, signaling a sharp shift in its stance as U.S. electric vehicle demand cools, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.

The Senate is to vote as early as next week on a measure to revoke the state’s emissions waiver.
